Ben Ertel was born and raised in Mason, Ohio and is a graduate of Mason High School. Upon completion from high school Ben went to the University of Cincinnati where he majored in Political Science and began actively volunteering on several political campaigns. He went on to work at the Hamilton County Courthouse, worked as an assistant on a statewide campaign, was a staff assistant in Washington, DC for a member of the U.S. House of Representatives and finally was volunteer coordinator for a presidential campaign in 2008.
A person in long term recovery, he like many struggled to access treatment that would give him the tools necessary for life long recovery. Eventually through legal consequences he was mandated to complete treatment through the Hamilton County Drug Court and credits their long-term continuum of care for his lasting sobriety.
Combining his prior experience with his journey to recovery Ben's passion lies in advocacy and helping others access quality treatment. Beginning his career in healthcare five years ago he has worked in environmental services for the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, an aide at a large psychiatric hospital, and a discharge planner as well as business development for residential treatment centers. Ben is currently the Business Development and Admission Supervisor for Hotel California by the Sea Cincinnati.
